My Musical Life - Page 1
I went to Central Elementary School in Yarmouth, for seven years.  The school has always had an excellent music program, consisting of singing, recorder playing, and music education.  The teacher is Mark Palmer.  In the earlier grades, we would have concerts by grade, and from grades 4-6, we had a school choir which consisted of about 70 voices in my last year.  We had the opportunity to go on many outings, and have many different experiences.  They are some of my best memories from elementary school.

The above picture is of just a few of the choir members along with the Men of the Deeps, a Cape Breton singing group consisting of current, and former coal miners.  We had a shared performance at Yarmouth High where we did a few songs, and Men of the Deeps did a few, and we even sang with them for a few.  This was in grade 4.  As well, the same year, we performed CATS.  It was as the real version goes, with only a few minor changes.  We even had dry ice and stairs to the Heavy Side Layer (cat heaven, as it is in CATS).

When I hit grade 5, we went a bit more formal, and sang in a music festival at Acadia University.  We competed against Wolfville, and Aldershot schools and each and every one of us placed silver!  How ever that happened, we never figured out, but a good time was had by all.
